Holiday Club Summer 2011

At the end of August we launched our first Community Church Deal holiday club aimed at Key Stage 2 children (7-11 years). It was called 'Changing Lanes' as we wanted to bring a message of direction, hope and challenge to the children based on Matthew 7 v 13-14 through the retelling of the story of Moses.

The Narrow and Wide Gates

'Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.'

The three day club included practical demonstrations, teaching, hands on activities, games, treasure hunts, prayer activities, craft and the watching of 'The Prince of Egypt', to name but a few. All were designed to engage both boys and girls.

We welcomed between 27-32 children every day and were blessed by our church teenagers stepping up to the position of peer leaders to the younger children. They were a great example to the children at all times and we could not have done without them.

The photos below demonstrate how we linked  :

Shelter building  - God is our shelter / He protects us from the storms of life

Treasure hunts / Orienteering / Instruction following - The Bible is our guide

Fire pits / Baking bread - The great I AM meets with us / desires to talk to us / sustains us

Please enjoy the photos. We had a great time and are already looking forward to next summer when we get to do it all again!
